1. Introductory Kayaking Skills.
Learn the basics in ten 1.5 hour pool sessions in small plastic play boats:
fun, safety, kayak fit, posture, balance, safe use of the body, wet exits,
basic control - forward, back, stop, sideways, turn, spin, brace, support
and more. Includes basic rescues, cold water paddling awareness, and
hypothermia/shock-drowning prevention. 1 and 2 star BCU skills. All
equipment provided (except bathing suit). 235-2090 for info.

2. Intermediate Kayaking Skills.
Develop strong boat control
skills, finesse, and solid rescues by taking a kayaking skills
adventure using the pool and
small plastic play boats. Ten action-packed pool sessions
for honing strokes
and maneuvers, balance, safety, use of the body, and the
performance of
specific strokes and maneuvers: draw, low and high braces,
bow and stern
rudders, sculling., beginnings of Eskimo rolling and more.
2 and 3 star BCU skills. All equipment provided (except bathing

3. Advanced Topics in Kayaking Skills.
Wednesday
- 830-100 PM. If you haveprevious kayak training,, this workshop
is for you. Develop a checklist an action-plan list of
your skills and pursue the performance of foundational
kayaking skills needed to pass instructor training and
instructor exams. Learn how to analyze your strokes and
maneuvers for 1, 2 and 3 star BCU kayak tests. Video analysis,
pool slalom racing, Eskimo rolling,, sea kayak rescues
and more.. Kayaks, paddles, skirts, and helmets provided.

4. Eskimo Rolling
Semi-private instruction - train to
learn and practice
the most reliable self-rescue in kayaking,, the Eskimo roll.
The "roll" is
one of the greatest benefits of paddling a kayak. The Eskimo
Roll is the
ability to capsize and recover your balance with an upright
posture from a
completely upside down position using a few simple body actions.
Taught in
plastic river kayaks in the comfort of the pool during "less
busy" lap
swims.
When: Lap swim periods to be determined.

Cost: $25/1hr. session, minimum of 2 students/session

5. Kayak Pool Practice sessions for Kayak School Students.
Kayak, paddle, skirt, helmet and light coaching provided.
When: Saturdays as needed, from 15 October to 17 December
