The
Alaska Kayak School
Why Homer?
We live in Homer because we love to paddle
and teach paddling at all times of the year. From early
spring to late fall, local peninsula rivers provide
great river paddling, and Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay
offer diverse sea paddling all year - in all but the
most inclement weather.
The Alaska Kayak School offers paddling instruction
and coaching in sea kayak, whitewater kayak, surf
kayak, open canoe and safety and rescue skills for
Alaskan conditions. Certified instructors of the American
Canoe Association and coaches trained by the British
Canoe Union teach our courses and guide our instructional
tours.

Who are we? |
|
Scott's
precision rolling and surfing skills are as impressive
as his coaching skills, especially for Eskimo rolling.
Scott's spatial awareness and congenial teaching style
will get you rolling in no-time. "It was the
biggest surf I've ever been on, gnar-gnar-gnar"
Homer Spit, 3 March 2003.

Laura's
grace on the water, photographic and video productions
and kayak coaching skills make her the "heart"
behind the school. "I like to paddle because
it's fun!" |

Tom
is a recovering wildlife biologist turned paddling
instructor - was a birder before discovering paddling.
Tom's multi-discipline open boat-sea kayak-whitewater
kayak-coach and instructor qualifications led to the
formation of the school. "The only thing better
than paddling is teaching paddling, on the water of
course."
